God Bless America

"America has never been united by blood or birth or soil. We are bound by ideals that move us beyond our backgrounds, lift us above our interests, and teach us what it means to be citizens."
-George W. Bush

November 14th was an exciting day for our family. It was the day my legal alien, green card carrying, Canadian-born, "most patriotic non-American" Momma became a citizen of this great country!

After living in the USA for 31 years, Honey decided she wanted to stay for good. I'm so proud of her and excited for her! Jenn and I decided this was an occasion that definitely deserved a party, so we sent out invites, made some yummy classic American desserts, had everyone sport their stars and stripes, and bought out all the little USA flags in town. Zach provided a wonderfully patriotic, but random soundtrack filled with classics such as "God Bless America", "America the Beautiful," "God Bless the USA," and "My Country 'Tis of Thee," and ranging all the way to"American Woman" and "Party in the USA."

The table filled with apple pie, banana pudding, a flag cake, and lots of other goodies.

The funny part is half of the table decorations we took from Honey's house when she wasn't home! I told you she's patriotic!

Jack being loved on by some of Honey's sweet friends.
Surprise!
Poppa had quite the hard time getting her over to Jenn's house in a timely manner and she kept adding on things to do while they were out, such as grocery shopping. Poppa would sneak off throughout the day to call Jenn and I in whispers, telling us of her latest excuses and delays. Honey later admitted he had been acting a little weird all day. Surely this was because Poppa is so honest and truthful, not because he can't keep a secret... ;)
Party action shot, ha!
American Woman (x 4)
Congratulations to the newest citizen of our great country, we're so proud of you!

It was hard convincing honey to do things against her wishes, but had fun. I think she suspected something, but drove up the party with cars everywhere, and she asked, what is going on. She knew at that point something was up. thank you girls for hosting and putting the party on, as it was fun. Poppa
